Vodafone sets up 19 helplines, other free facilities in Uttarakhand

Vodafone India has set up 19 helpline centres and offered other communication facilities in the severely affected areas of flood-ravaged Uttarakhand through its local distributors and service points.

The cellular service provider has also given a “chhota” credit of Rs 10 to 40,000 eligible customers of Vodafone India, according to a press release here. It has credited talk time of Rs 1,000 to helpline numbers. Besides, it is also displaying the Government helpline numbers in key areas.

It has also set up help desks in the affected areas to enable people stranded in the floods to get in touch with their near and dear ones. All those who need to make calls can visit these outlets and use the service for free.

Helpline centres have also been set up at the Jolly Grant and Sahasdhara helipads in Uttarakhand. Free phone services are being provided to the affected people brought to these helipads after evacuation.

Also, mobile phone charging units have been set up at both these helipads. The Government Disaster Management Center (DMC) numbers have been prominently displayed at all the helpline centers. The locations/ names of the outlets and the telephone numbers which people can use have also been provided.

Vodafone is also providing talk time credit to affected customers unable to top up credit due to the non-availability of recharge facilities in the impacted locations. The “chhota” credit service is also being made available to about 80,000 Vodafone roaming customers.
